This is a powerful incense that connects with the divine. It works wonderfully during meditation and healing activities.

In the sacred Mayan book Popol Vuh, which tells the the creation story and the origins of the K'iche' Maya people, there is a beautiful passage describing the first dawn witnessed by the first four men created by the gods. These men, Balam Quitzé (“Smiling Jaguar”), Balam Agab (“Jaguar of the Night”), Iqui-Balam (“Moon Jaguar”) and Mahucutah (“Distinguished Name”) are symbolic figures representing the four cardinal directions, the celestial bodies, and the spiritual forces governing the natural world.

To express their gratitude for the birth of the Sun, marking the beginning of light and life, the four men perform a sacred ritual by burning three kinds of copal incense toward the Sun:

Black copal represents the underworld. Powerful and mysterious, it calls upon the energies of the night and dives deep into the darkness of the soul, enabling transformation. It is associated with purification and protection, and it is also calming and grounding.
White copal symbolizes the heavens, purity and connection with divine forces. It is cleansing, gentle and bright.
Gold copal embodies the earth and abundance. It is great in healing work; its soft and warm essence opens the eyes and soul to intuition.

Please note the product you are purchasing is the packaged incense. (It does not include: incense burner, charcoal or any other accessories.)
