Sheba's Gift - Arabian Incense
Sheba's Gift - Arabian Incense
Remember your heart and tune into the frequency of love. The warm and sensual fragrance of this incense is a celebration of romantic love.
One of the oldest and most passionate love poems comes from the Bible: The Song of Songs, or the The Song of Solomon. It is a beautifully crafted lyrical account of the wonders of human experience seen through the eyes of two lovers at different stages in their relationship. The Song of Songs depicts the love story of King Solomon of Israel and (most likely) the Queen of Sheba.
Three thousand years ago, the Queen of Sheba ruled over the Southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula (Yemen and Oman). Her wealth, besides wisdom and beauty, were frankincense and myrrh. Her visit to meet King Solomon is one of the earliest recorded transports of incense along this route. We may not know with certainty whether their love really unfolded (there is little archeological evidence to support even that the two existed), but the legacy of the cultural ties between the two kingdoms is unquestionable. For hundreds of years, camel caravans walked the Incense Route, more than 2,000 km through the harsh Negev desert, to deliver frankincense and myrrh to the Mediterranean port in Gaza. The effort put by both humans and animals into completing this journey and creating the dessert settlements with their sophisticated irrigation systems that allowed agriculture, and the fortresses that protected the caravans from thieves, is astonishing.
Please note the product you are purchasing is the packaged incense. (It does not include: incense burner, charcoal or any other accessories.)
